Everything pointed to an episode set entirely in the nineteenth century and the fans believed that it would be. Watson find themselves in 1890s London in this Christmas special. The first thing that must be said is that The Abominable Bride should not be your introduction to Gatiss and Moffats Sherlock. Once again, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are tasked with solving another impossible crime this time. With Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Una Stubbs, Rupert Graves. Easily the most labyrinthine, involved, occasionally confusing Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat-helmed affair. A thrilling, funny, fast-paced contemporary reimagining of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic. Sherlock: The Abominable Bride is a little more than what was advertised. The Abominable Bride: Directed by Douglas Mackinnon. Well, this was to put it plainly trippy as hell. There is a twist in here, but one which I will not spoil. If you haven't watched Sherlock, the more modern BBC incarnation of the duo, I suggest you stop reading this post and catch up. Its incredibly atmospheric and well-done, from its costumes and backdrops to the actual mystery. A continuation of the popular BBC series, it takes place in the Victorian era as opposed to modern times. I've mentioned before how I love a good bromance (more on my months of Supernatural viewing later), and Sherlock Holmes and John Watson is one of the best. John Watson's adventures in 21st Century London. Parents need to know that Sherlock: The Abominable Bride is a mystery story about a series of murders committed by a ghostly woman.
